The Church, The Household Of God | 1 Timothy 3:14-16 ESV

The New Testament refers to the church with many different metaphors. Among them are the church as a body, a temple, and a bride. Yet in today’s passage, we see that the church is also described as God’s house – which includes the idea of the church as a family. As with any family, a family has a certain value system and way of living that reflects upon the reputation of that family. Our passage today teaches that the church is the household of God, and Christians are to live in such a way that upholds the truth and beauty of Jesus Christ to a watching world.
