Loving Like Christ | John 13:1-17 (ESV)

Last week in Ephesians, we saw that the gospel changes our lives in various ways. One way the gospel changes our lives is that it gives us a deep love for one another. In fact, Jesus commanded us to love one another just as he loved us. John records that Jesus demonstrated his love for his disciples by doing something extraordinary. He washed their feet. Why did he do this? He went on to say that his disciples should ‘wash one another’s feet’. What might that look like for us? If we are to follow Christ’s example, we need to first understand his great love. Then and only then might we begin to get to the place where we can love one another in a humble sacrificial way.
