Baptism: An Outward Sign Of Inward Reality | Romans 6:1-14 (ESV)

Jesus commanded that all of his followers identify themselves with him by being baptized in water in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. This initial one-time act displays what has happened to the person. By being united to Christ, they have passed safety through the waters of judgment, died to their old life of sin, been raised to live a new life of obedience and been cleansed of all their sins.
