The elders at ECC take their understanding of leadership from Paul's instruction to the Ephesian church in chapter 4.
"It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ."
Thus we believe that leadership is a spiritual gift to the church: 'it was he who gave', but not all lead alike: only 'some to be pastors and teachers'. However all leadership is to 'prepare God's people for works of service'. Therefore, leadership is principally about the modest, but necessary task of connecting people to Christ, the Head and to one another. Leadership is not about controlling an organization, but healthy leadership results in maturity for the body of Christ, so that people grow up, 'become mature' and not stuck in spiritual adolescence. However, the process of maturity never ends: 'the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
One of the dimensions of 'preparing people for works of service' is prayer for the sick. If you wish prayer for healing whether physically, relationally or spiritually please contact one of the elders or pastoral staff.
James tells those who are ill, 'Is anyone of you sick? He (she) should call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned they will be forgiven.' (James 5.14-15) The initiative for healing is taken by the one who is sick. This in itself is an act of trusting God for healing. Ministry to the Sick and Healing Prayer.
As the result of elders election held at the Annual General Meeting on 16 May 2010, the ECC Elders now consists of the people below.

I'm a third generation Christian within my family. My grandfather once served as an elder of Swatow church in Central. I committed my life to Jesus during a summer youth camp at the age of 13.
I began serving in the music ministry when I was 10, playing piano for Sunday school, and singing in choirs and worship teams.
In 1984, I went to study in Leicester Polytechnic in England where I met my wife Pauline. After graduation, I worked in England for another eight years and attended the Leicester Chinese Church where I served as chairman and worship leader.
Our family returned to HK in 1996 and we have been attending ECC since 2003. It has been a privilege to serve in ECC's worship team, Alpha ministry, Shatin care group, and the Flight Deck Fellowship.
I work as a sales manager for a telephony vendor.
We have two sons, Nathan and Wesley.

Howard was two years old at the peak of the Korean War. He had measles and medication became very scarce. In desperation, his mother, being a non-believer took him to a church and prayed that God would heal him. By His grace, Howard was fully recovered and his mother continued taking him to church. During one Christmas when Howard was at primary school, about age 8-9, he played the role of magi from the east in a children's drama, he asked Jesus Christ into his heart and accepted him as his Lord. Howard's faith was stagnant for some time until Michelle and he got married. They attended the Precept Bible Study that helped them tremendously in their encounter with God in a more intimate way and gave them a deeper desire to serve Him.
Howard was baptized in 1982 at a Methodist church and served as a deacon in Sydney Cheil Korean Church in Australia for 5 years. Howard and his wife, Michelle joined ECC in 1995 and became facilitators of two Precept Bible classes. Howard also taught Sunday school at Hong Kong Dong Shin Korean church, served as a deacon and a member of Mission and Outreach Committee. Currently, he serves as a facilitator of Sunday afternoon Precept Bible Study at ECC. He also serves as one of the leaders of local Korean community in Hong Kong.
Howard and Michelle have two daughters. Howard manages a small trading company of electronic components, custom IC development and manufacturing trading.
